China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association Recycling Metal Branch (CMRA), founded on May 16, 2002, is approved by State Economic and Trade Commission of China and registered with Ministry of Civil Affairs of P.R.C. It is a national non-profit organization in China’s Nonferrous Metals Industry.
China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association Recycling Metal Branch (CMRA) is the only association in China’s Nonferrous Metals Industry as an important consultant and assistant to the governmental decision-making department under China Nonferrous Metals Renewing and Recycling and Utilization. Meanwhile, it is also a bridge as well as a link between a number of enterprises engaged in the recycling nonferrous metals and various sectors of related production, teaching, research, and application. CMRA has more than 500 members at home and abroad in enterprises of nonferrous metals scrap recycling, pretreatment, smelting, machining, manufacturing and circulation as well as those from design institutes, universities and scientific research institutions that are specializing in the related commitments of recycling nonferrous metals. Over 1,500,000 people are directly employed in the industry with gross output accounting for over 30% of the total nonferrous metals.
Since its establishment in 2002, CMRA always adheres to the concept of “Members are family members, and to promote industrial development is our mission in life”. CMRA constantly improves and promotes our service methods, constantly enriches and deepens our service contents, and constantly extend and expand our service functions. By far, the business scope of CMRA has penetrated into several aspects, such as industrial advantages propaganda, developmental strategies formulating, policies and measures researching, scientific research and innovation organizing, external exchanges conducting, and foreign trade coordinating. CMRA pays special attentions to the R&D of copper, aluminum, lead, zinc, and e-wastes with the aim to promote a sustained, fast and healthy industrial development of the industry by focusing on people’s health and safety, environmental protection and staff training, reducing energy consumption and increasing the utilization level of resources.
CMRA has long established good collaborative relationships with recycling nonferrous metals merchants, manufacturers and producers from all over the world, and has maintained close liaison and communication with other important organizations including Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) and Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries，Inc.(ISRI), all of which have become the most significant associations in recycling metals industry national worldwide.
Looking forward, we will bear in mind our mission to proactively and effectively promote the rising prosperity and progress of the global recycling nonferrous metal industry. Besides, we will also better play our leading role in both coordination and guiding for the common benefits of the industry taken as a whole and the legal interests of our members, so as to promote the sustainable development of China’s nonferrous metals industry at a new historical starting point. Furthermore, we will devote ourselves to propel the comprehensive and sustainable development of Chinese recycling metal industry while enhancing the mutual learning and communication by taking advantage of this new opportunity.
China’s recycling nonferrous metal industry has made significant contributions to its own development and economic and social constructions. In particular, it has made outstanding contributions in aspects of saving energy and resources, reducing emissions and protecting natural environment. From 2002 to 2012, in comparison with the production of primary metals of the same amount, China’s recycling nonferrous metals industry has accumulatively saved 139 million tons of standard coal, 12.37 billion cubic meters of water and 409.9 billion kwh of electricity, reduced 104 billion cubic meters of solid discharge and 577 million tons of carbon-dioxide emissions, and saved 9.15 billion tons of natural resources.
